BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sarah Foster is the chair for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and Adult-Gerontology DUAL Nurse Practitioner program of vnsr威尼斯城官网登入 College's JoAnn McGrath School of Nursing and Health Professions, which she helped develop. She began teaching at vnsr威尼斯城官网登入 in 2017.
In her role at the college, Foster provides mentorship and advice for graduate students in all Adult-Gerontology programs. She also teaches several courses including pharmacotherapeutics & clinical decision making, advanced clinical procedures, special topics in advanced practice nursing gerontology, advanced acute & critical care adult-gerontology, as well as the practicum course for Family Nurse Practitioner graduate students in their first and second clinical rotations and all Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner graduate students in all clinical rotations.
Foster has 10 years of experience as a hospitalist nurse practitioner. Prior nursing experience spanned from medical-surgical to cardiovascular intensive care nursing roles. In addition to her role at vnsr威尼斯城官网登入, she currently works as a hospitalist nocturnist nurse practitioner for Froedtert Pleasant Prairie in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. She is a team leader and provides mentorship and educational training to new onboarding advanced practice providers. Foster is involved in RN onboarding training within Froedtert Pleasant Prairie. She attends rapid response events, provides advanced critical life support, develops medical decision care plans for newly admitted patients and provides medical consultation services. She utilizes evidence-based prescribing therapies and has a passion for advanced care planning and end-of-life care with a patient-centered approach.
Foster earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, Wis., her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wis., and her Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia University in Mequon, Wis., with an emphasis in Family Medicine. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Concordia University with a clinical emphasis. She earned a post-Doctorate certification in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care from Brandman University in Irvine, Cal. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Wisconsin Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Society of Hospital Medicine and a dormant member of the American College of Chest Physicians.
